jim-teaching-in-ugandaDr. James L. Witty is the founder and President of Care Corps International. For 33 years he has served as a pastor, counselor, and missionary in the church.

He is an ordained Presbyterian minister and holds doctoral degrees in Psychology and Ministry. He is a Trauma Specialist and has extensive background and experience in conflict management, crisis counseling and team building. He has taught seminary and college courses in counseling and mission and trauma care counseling with traumatized children.

Dr. Witty began Care Corps International in response to the lack of a substantial Christian crisis-care ministry to the victims of war in the former Yugoslavia. During the Bosnian conflict the national church invited Dr. Witty to train their pastors to care for the victims of the genocide and the thousands of refugees and orphans. This ministry of supporting and training the church, missionaries and relief work in crisis areas of the world has expanded to N. Ireland, Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, Columbia, Chechnya, the Republic of Georgia, Jordan, Gaza and Israel. By invitation, Care Corps teams train national pastors and mission staff working in areas of disaster and war. This compassion ministry supports and assists the church in their mission to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ and practical ministry tools to show God’s love, care, healing and hope to victims of trauma.
